Known as The Jakarta Stock Exchange bombing was a terrorist attack on the Jakarta Stock Exchange.
A car bomb exploded in the basement of the building, triggering a chain of explosions in which a number of cars caught fire. Most of the dead were drivers waiting by their employer's cars. Many had taken cover in their vehicles but suffocated as billowing black smoke engulfed the basement levels.
At least 15 people were killed when a car bomb exploded at the Jakarta stock exchange yesterday. Dozens were injured and the blast raised fresh fears for the stability of Indonesia.
The bomb went off in an underground car park, setting the building ablaze for several hours and sending smoke billowing into the surrounding area. The exchange, in the centre of the capital, is one of the region's largest.
