Known as Christmas Eve 2000 bombings. A series of explosions took place in Indonesia, it said that Al-Qaeda Jemaah Islamiyah were the mastermind of these attacks. In total 8 cities in Indonesia were attacked i.e. Jakarta, Mojokerto, Pekanbaru, Medan, Batam, Mataram, Bandung and Sukabumi.

These serial attacks targeted mainly to the Christian people. Several bombs were purposely placed near or in the church, both Catholic and Christian, as they know that Christmas is on of the most important events for Christian. In Jakarta alone, in total 5 churches were attacked.

In total it killed 16 people and around 96 were injured.
