Garang asem is a traditional dish originated from central part of Java, Indonesia. It is a chicken dish with broth and wrapped with banana leaves.

A whole chicken is cut into small parts and they are seasoned with shallots, garlic, gingers, turmerics, peppers, and other seasonings. After that, the chickens are wrapped with banana leaves and then steamed for about an hour.
