Elongated vegetable which originates from India. It belongs to the nightshade family and it is related to green peppers. It was cultivated 4,000 years ago as an ornamental. There are diverse varieties, the most common are deep purple or dark red. Easy to cultivate in tropical climate, it dislikes cool, rainy weather.
