Supreme Court of Ukraine

Supreme Court of Ukraine is the highest judicial body in the system of the courts of general jurisdiction of Ukraine, as provided by Article 125 of Constitution of Ukraine. According to Article 38 of the Law of Ukraine on Judicial System and Status of Judges, the Supreme Court of Ukraine:

a) reconsiders rulings of the lower courts on the basis of different use of the same provisions of material law in similar cases;

b) reconsiders rulings of the above mentioned courts in case when an international judicial organization whose power is recognized by Ukraine has found the state of Ukraine infringing its international obligations when considering a certain case by a Ukrainian court;

c) provides a conclusion on availability or absence of evidence of high treason or another crime in doings of the President of Ukraine; and submits, by the request of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the written judgment on the impossibility for the President of Ukraine to exercise his powers on medical grounds;

d) applies to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine for a conclusion regarding compliance of a certain law or other legislative act with Constitution of Ukraine, as well as for making an official interpretation of Constitution of Ukraine.
