freeriding
A form of skiing were the skier will be skiing off of the groomed runs. Sometimes called off piste skiing or free skiing. Freeriding is skiing the un-groomed trails typically through difficult and sometimes dangerous terrain. Most skiers like to free ski through trees, cliff chutes, and off of cliffs.
There are freeriding competitions held for all ages. There is no course like ski racing however they will select a mountains run and allow the competitors to chose their own course.The winner is decided by a panel of judges who will usually be at the bottom of the hill watching the riders descend. They will give scores based on difficulty of the run/tricks, smoothness, and time.
