Kalakand

Kalakand /qalaqand is a popular Indian sweet made out of solidified, sweetened milk and cottage cheese. Kalakand was invented in 1947 by Baba Thakur Das in Alwar, Rajasthan, India. A huge pan is kept on a flame and large amount of milk is boiled stirring it continuously till it is thickened with sugar and dry fruits.

It is made in subcontinent during different festivals and celebrations such as Holi, Diwali, Navratri and Eid. Ajmeri Kalakand is a type of kalakand made in Ajmer, Rajasthan. It is brown in colour. It is made from Anjeer (figs).
