Club Foot
The word "club foot" is actually a foot abnormalities usually present at birth, twisted out of shape or position. In clubfoot, the tissues connecting the muscles to the bone (tendons) are shorter than usual. The way the foot is positioned at a sharp angle to the ankle, like the head of a golf club.
Clubfoot occurs in approximately 1 in 400 newborns -- affecting boys about twice as often as girls -- and includes several kinds of ankle and foot deformities. The exact cause of clubfoot isn't clear, but it's probably a combination of heredity and environmental factors that affect fetal growth.
Clubfoot can be mild or severe, it is not painful and it wont affect the baby until the baby starts to walk.
