guacamole

A Mexican dip that originated back among the Aztecs, made with squashed avocados and other vegetables and ingredients, including tomatoes, white onions, chilies, cilantro, sea salt, and lime juice. It is often served with corn chips. Some versions of // add garlic, cayenne pepper or even basil. Other non-traditional ingredients include sour cream or peas as the base of the dip. To avoid the // turning brown, one must avoid it being exposed to oxygen. Some methods to prevent browning are to keep the // in an air-tight container, to place a clear plastic wrap on the surface, or to add lime juice.
