(1) A data mapping technique for disc arrays in which fixed-length sequences of virtual-disk data addresses are mapped to sequences of member disc addresses in a regular rotating pattern. See also striped data set.
(2) A storage process in which information is split into blocks (a fixed amount of data) and the blocks are written to or read from a series of discs in parallel.
