Social codes
Whilst all semiotic codes are in a broad sense social codes, social codes can also be seen as forming a major sub-group of codes, alongside textual codes and interpretative codes. Social codes in this narrower sense concern our tacit knowledge of the social world and include unwritten codes such as bodily codes, commodity codes and behavioural codes.
