In general switcher terms, a pattern is any geometric shape which grows, rotates, or pivots and in so doing removes the foreground video while simultaneously revealing the background video. Strictly speaking, a pattern is a fully enclosed shape on the screen. This definition is our internal view, but not consistent with the industry. Typical patterns are rectangles, diamonds, and circles.
