orphism
Sometimes called Orphic Cubism. This term was coined about the 1912-13 by French poet and art critic Guillaume Apollinaire. It is used to describe the work of Cubist-influenced Robert Delaunay and his wife Sonia, and to distinguish their work is very abstract and colorful from Cubism in General. The name is derived from ancient Greece to the legendary poet and musician Orpheus. Its use by Apollinaire relates to the idea that a painting should be like music, which is an important element in the development of abstract art. The Delaunays ' work patch smooth and beautiful colours that are brought together to create a harmonious composition. Delaunay himself used the term to describe his Simultanism.
