A two-dimensional (usually) picture. The picture may be represented in digital form or mathematically as an image is a set of planes in two dimensions. The two dimensions are the resolution in X and Y (columns, lines). The origin (0, 0) of the image is sometimes its lower left corner. There are four basic types of images: black and white or color, mask or no mask, Z plane or no Z plane, IPR information or no IPR information.
