Disc leasing
A method for controlling access to storage devices from multiple host systems. Any host that wants to access a storage device configured to use disc leasing registers for a lease; in the event of a perceived failure, a host system can deny access, preventing I/O operations with the storage device until the preempted system has reregistered.
