Affective fallacy
The so-called 'affective fallacy' (identified by literary theorists who regarded meaning as residing within the text) involves relating the meaning of a text to its readers' interpretations - which these theorists saw as a form of relativism. Few contemporary theorists regard this as a 'fallacy' since most accord due importance to the reader's purposes.
