Internet host

A computer that is connected to the Internet or an intranet. An Internet host might run more than one Internet server program. For example, the Internet host might run an FTP server to respond to requests from FTP client applications. The same host might run an HTTP server to respond to requests from clients who are using Web browsers. Server programmes typically run in the background (in batch) on the host system.
