An orthorhombic mineral, CaAl3(SiO4)3(OH)) ; epidote group; dimorphous with clinozoisite; vitreous or pearly; varicolored; a common rock-forming mineral in mediumgrade metamorphic rocks. The rose-red variety has been called thulite.
