vinyl bromide
A toxic compound that was established as a federal hazardous air pollutant in 1993. Sources of vinyl bromide may include rubber substitution, flame-retarding treatment of acrylics, laminating, and/or preparing films. It is also important to point out that vinyl bromide may be the result of the atmospheric degradation of 1,2-dibromoethane. Based on a typical atmospheric gas phase reaction with a hydroxyl radical, the lifetime of vinyl bromide in the atmosphere is between 1. 5 and 2. 1 days resulting in the products formaldehyde and formyl bromide.
