two’s complement numbers

Numbering system commonly used to represent both positive and negative numbers. The positive numbers in two’s complement representation are identical to the positive numbers in standard binary. However, the Two’s complement representation of a negative number is the complement of the absolute binary value plus 1. Note that the eighth or most significant bit indicates the sign: 0 = plus, 1 = minus.
