statutory reserves
The reserves accumulated in accordance with the articles of association of a company. Article 672 of the Swiss Federal Code of Obligations states that the articles of association may stipulate that more than 5% of the net profit has to be allocated to the statutory reserves and that the reserve fund must amount to more than 20% of the share capital as laid down by law. The Articles can call for the creation of additional reserve funds and define their use and purpose (statutory reserve fund). See also reserves.
