standby timer

The camera enters standby mode if no operations are performed for a set time after the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. The user can choose the delay before the camera enters standby mode. In the case of the Q0720, the user can choose from delays of 4, 6, 10, and 30 seconds and 1, 5, 10, and 30 minutes. When the camera enters standby mode, the exposure meters (shutter speed and aperture displays) in the control and viewfinder turn off. The longer the delay, the more rapidly the battery runs down. Menu options for the standby timer appear in the Custom Settings and setup menus for the D3. The Custom Settings menu is used to choose the length of the delay before the camera enters standby mode, the setup menu to determine whether the camera will enter standby mode when a GPS device is connected.
