slow release
A fertilizer term used interchangeably with delayed release, controlled release, controlled availability, slow acting, and metered release to designate a rate of dissolution (usually in water) much less than is obtained for completely water-soluble compounds. Slow release may involve either compounds that dissolve slowly or soluble compounds coated with substances relatively impermeable to water.
