silent wave motor
An autofocus motor developed independently by Nikon, incorporated into AF-S lenses. It combines focusing speeds fast enough to follow a rapidly-moving subject with quietness not found in AF lenses driven by motors in the camera body, demonstrating its potential with subjects that demand these characteristics, such as sports and wildlife.
