The shield of power cables can be connected to the equipment-grounding conductor at either one end of the cable (single end) or at both ends (double ended). Shielding will ensure uniform dielectric stress along the length of the cable. When grounded at both ends, cable derating might be necessary because of heat due to ground loop current.
