The slot (CF or SD card slot) not selected as the primary slot using the “Primary slot selection” item in the shooting menu.

The role by the memory card in the secondary slot can be determined using the "Secondary slor function" item in the shooting menu. This menu contains the following options:

- Overflow: The card in the secondary slot is used only if the card in the primary slot is full.

- Backup: Each image is recorded twice, with one copy being recorded to the card in the primary slot and the other to the card in the secondary slot.

- RAW primary, JPEG secondary: When photographs are taken at an image quality setting of RAW+JPEG, the RAW image is recorded to the card in the primary slot, the JPEG image to the card in the secondary slot.

In the case of the D3, the secondary slot was always slot 2 and the English menu name was therefore “Slot 2”. In the Q0810, however, the user can choose either slot as the secondary slot, necessitating a change to the English menu name.
