secondary containment
Any device or structure that prevents environmental contamination when the primary container or its appurtenances fail. Secondary containment shall be designed and constructed to intercept and contain pesticide spills and leaks and to prevent runoff or leaching of pesticides into the environment. Examples of secondary containment include dikes, curbing, and double-walled tanks.
