polyacrylamide gels
Often referred to incorrectly as acrylamide gels. These gels are made by cross-linking acrylamide with N,N'-methylene-bis-acrylamide. Polyacrylamide gels are used for the electrophoretic separation of proteins, DNA and RNA molecules. Polyacrylamide beads are also used as molecular sieves in gel chromatography, marketed as Bio-gelTM.
