low-cut filter
The name of a function found in the optional stereo microphone for D-SLR cameras. A filter circuit, known as a low-cut filter or low-cut switch, passes only sound waves over a certain frequency, reducing the wind noise recorded by the microphone.
Examples of names used by other manufacturers include “indoor/outdoor mode switch” (AudioTechnique AT-9941) and “WIND CUT OFF/ON” (Panasonic DMW-MS1).
The ME-1 is intended for use with all cameras equipped with an external microphone jack (probably including C-DSC cameras, although this has yet to be decided).
Note: “low-pass cut” is not correct in this context.
