Hufflepuff is one of the four Houses in Hogwarts. The founder was a medieval witch Helga Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff is the most inclusive among the four houses; valuing hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its members. The emblematic animal is a badger, and yellow and black are its colours. The Head of Hufflepuff is Pomona Sprout and the Fat Friar is the House's patron ghost.

Students belonging to this house are known to be hard-working, friendly, loyal, honest and rather impartial. The Founder, Helga Hufflepuff was a friend Rowena Ravenclaw and she was one of the four founder of Hogwarts.Hufflepuff helped to build the school and admitted students into her House that were loyal, fair, and unafraid of hard work. While the other founders took students based on either ambition, bravery, or intelligence, Helga Hufflepuff took the rest, treating them all equally and teaching them all she knew. Helga Hufflepuff had a gift for food-related Charms, and her recipes are still used as the basis for many Hogwarts feasts.Helga Hufflepuff also arranged for the house-elf contingent to work in the kitchens, giving them somewhere safe to work, where they would not be mistreated or abused.

Hufflepuff created a cup which, according to descendant Hepzibah Smith, had magical powers.
