hellp syndrome

An abbreviation for hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets. HELLP is a rare, serious condition occurring during pregnancy on its own or in association with preeclampsia. Symptoms include severe upper-right abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting in the third trimester as well as full-body itching. The treatment is to deliver the baby.
