eye tracking

The process by means of which eyes follow a person or object across a television screen. Many ATV techniques take advantage of the fact that human vision cannot simultaneously demand high spatial resolution and high temporal resolution to reduce the amount of spatial resolution transmitted for moving objects. However, when the eyes track such an object, its image is stationary on the retina, and the visual system can demand as much resolution as it would for a truly stationary object. See also Dynamic Resolution.
