A monoclinic mineral, Al2Si2O5(OH)4.2H2O ; kaolinite-serpentine group; soft, colorless to white; commonly tinted by impurities. (It is called halloysite in European literature.) Formerly called hydrated halloysite, hydrohalloysite, hydrokaolin.
