The Defense Area and Attack Area are the same it just depends on which team is attacking and which is defending. The Defensive Area is where the goal of the team that is defending (protecting its goal) is located. This is the area defined by a line drawn sideline to sideline 20 yards from the face of the goal. This is the same for the attack area. Once the defensive team gains possession of the ball in this area, it has ten seconds to move the ball across the mid-field line.
