coring
A system for reducing the noise content of circuits by removing low-amplitude noise riding on the baseline of the signals. Both aperture correction and enhancement can be cored. It involves preventing any boosting of very low level edge transitions. The threshold point is the coring control. The more the coring is increased, the more the extra noise added by the enhanced (or aperture corrector), high frequency boosting is reduced. Of course, the fine detail enhancement is also reduced or eliminated.
Too high levels of coring can cause a “plastic picture” effect.
