control-l (LANC)
Sony’s wired edit control protocol, also called LANC (Local Application Control), which allows two-way communication between a camcorder or VCR and an edit controller such as the Thumbs Up.
Control-L allows the controller to control the deck (fast forward, play, etc.) and also allows the controller to read the tape position (tape counter) information from the deck.
