chiasma
A visible point of junction between two non-sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes during the first meiotic prophase. a.k.a. cross-over. In the diplotene stage of prophase I of meiosis, the four chromatids of a bivalent are associated in pairs, but in such a way that one part of two chromatids is exchanged.
