(i) A generic term for ridge-like accumulations of sand , gravel, or other unconsolidated material formed in the channel, along the banks, or at the mouth of a streams or formed by waves or currents as offshore features in large lakes or oceans. (ii) A unit of pressure equal to one million dynes per square centimeter. Megapasal is the preferred unit for pressure in SSSA publications.
