a) Process of assembling an edited videotape on a computerized editing system under the control of an edit decision list (EDL). A computer automatically conforms source footage into an edited video program under the direction of a list of preprogrammed edit instructions.

b) An edit in which an off-line edit decision list is loaded into an online edit computer and all the edits are assembled automatically with little or no human intervention.
