aquerts
Vertisols that are saturated with water for periods long enough to limit their use for most crops other than pasture and woodland unless they are artificially drained. Aquerts have in one or more horizons between 40 and 50 cm from the surface, aquic conditions for some time in most years and chromas of two or less in 50 percent of the pedon or evidence of active ferrous iron.
