ambient brightness sensor
A sensor used for automatic brightness control. The sensor measures brightness in the immediate vicinity of the camera, and the camera uses this information to adjust monitor brightness to a level that seems natural to the user. The monitor brightens when the surroundings are bright and dims when the surroundings are dark. The technology is the same as that seen in recent thin-screen TVs.
The “brightness” in “ambient brightness sensor” refers to the brightness of the ambient lighting in the vicinity of the monitor, not the brightness of the monitor itself. This is made clear in English by the use of the term “ambient. ”
