(CH2CHCHO) The simplest double-bonded aldehyde, produced in urban smog, contributing greatly to eye and lung irritation. It is a constituent of internal combustion engine exhaust, cigarette smoke, and biomass burning, and from the incomplete combustion of plastics and fuels.
