Mundane is a human race, someone who comes from the human world. Mundanes are ordinary people or humans in general in the real world. It has a short name "mundi". Mundanes cannot see the races from downworlders. There is a kind of mystical mist that prevents them to see the real appearances of downworlders. They will be altered to see something common in human world. In the beginning, it is believed that Clary is a mundane with a sight. Simon is the mundane character in the movie.
