Outside, its sharp front edges, double arch grille, broad shoulders and strong character line that runs the length of the body combine for an imposing stance — one much more aggressive than the current Q60 coupe wears. It rides on low-profile 21-inch wheels with matte-black and high-gloss black chrome spokes, adding to the menacing look.
Inside, the concept features hand-stitched leather seats and surfaces as well as carbon-fiber trim accents. Rear-seat passengers sit on a pair of quilted leather bucket seats. The overall look is more luxurious than sporty. In terms of controls, the concept uses the Infiniti InTuition personalization system. The system recognizes vehicle settings for up to four different drivers; preferences include driving position, heating and cooling, audio, navigation and multimedia presets.
Under the hood, there's nothing "concept" about the engine. The Q60 uses the next-generation of Infiniti's 3.0-liter V-6 engine with direct injection and twin-turbocharging. It first debuted on the Q80 Inspiration concept unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, and Infiniti says it's just one powertrain in a new family of lighter, smaller and more efficient engines that it plans to introduce during the next two years. Specs haven't been released but the automaker says the new engine significantly reduces fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions while boosting power and torque.
Look for more details on the production version next year; Infiniti says the third generation of the Q60 is planned for 2016.
