The Republic of Angola is a country in south-central Africa that has a total population of around 18,498,000 (2009), and Luanda as its Capital city. The country's official language is Portugese, and it's government is a presidential republic. Angola has large petroleum and mineral reserves, and was a Portugese colony from the 16th century to 1975, after which it endured a civil war until 2002.
