nullification

The willful flouting of government regulations, supposedly in the name of a higher good; but, in reality, to increase the popularity of one's business before such regulations can be enforced. Within the context of the sharing economy, this terms refers to certain enterprises' attempt to ignore their responsibilities as employers. While on the surface, the sharing economy has a benign, somewhat idealistic reputation, a deeper examination reveals that some are using nullification to seek high profits rather than social connection. A well-known sharing economy enterprise offering taxi services, Uber, has received a great deal of unflattering attention due to accusations of nullification.
