A manufactured fiber in which the fiber-forming substance is any long chain synthetic polymer composed of at least 80% by weight of vinylidene chloride units (-CH₂-CCl₂-). Saran fiber has excellent resistance to sunlight and weathering and is used in lawn furniture, upholstery, and carpets.
