mucenici
Mucenici are a special dish prepared to celebrate spring and they are usually made on the 9th of March. They consist of a simple dough mixture shaped like the number '8' and they can be served two different ways, depending on the historical region. In some parts of the country, they are bigger sized (as a slice of bread) and they are eaten covered in honey and nuts. In other parts, they are the size of cereals, boiled in sugary water, in which nuts and grated oranges are added.
