A human race born as a warrior prepared to banish demons from the world. It is believed that Shadowhunters are a half human and a half angel. Nephilim is another name used to call them. The first Shadowhunters were created thousands years ago. The Angel Raziel mixed his own blood with humans' blood in the Mortal Cup and gave it to the humans. They who drank the mixed-blood became Shadowhunters, as did their offspring.
