Clean Air Act blev vedtaget i 1970 og senere i November af 1990 gjort til lov etableret landsdækkende niveauer af acceptable luftforurening fra automobiles, enkeltpersoner og industri. The Environmental Protection Agency er ansvarlig for håndhævelse af standarder og regulativer i Clean Air Act.
